Alcaraz's Father on Saying No to Ferrero: 'Everyone Is Free to Have Their Opinion Based on What They Know'

Carlos Alcaraz González, father of the world's number one tennis player, the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, told EFE that 'everyone is free to have their opinion based on what they know', regarding the breakup with Juan Carlos Ferrero, his son's coach for the last 7 years, since the athlete from El Palmar (Murcia) was 15. The most influential person in the current ATP leader's life, who at 22 years old has 24 titles, including 6 Grand Slams, did not reveal the reason for not renewing Ferrero's contract, who has received the ATP's Coach of the Year award.

Juan Carlos Ferrero admitted in an interview with Marca newspaper that he felt 'hurt' by the breakup, though with a 'sense of calm and having done his duty', and revealed that he does not close the door to working again in the future with the Murcian, whom he says has 'the potential to be the best tennis player in history'.

A week after the professional split between the tennis player and coach was announced, the latter pointed out that there were 'certain things' they did not agree on, but they did not even sit down to talk about it, and added that 'from Carlos's environment' it was thought best to leave it, pointing to the father, who declined to make further statements.
