New York's New Mayor, Zohran Kwame Mamdani, Takes Office

"I, Zohran Kwame Mamdani, solemnly swear to uphold the Constitution of the United States, the Constitution of the State of New York, and the Charter of the City of New York, and to faithfully discharge the duties of the office of the Mayor of New York to the best of my abilities." The 34-year-old Democratic leader took office in a ceremony held in the early hours of January 1st, highlighting the columns designed by architect Rafael Guastavino.
