Hydrological Alert Activated in the Segura River Basin Due to Flow Increase

The Emergency Coordination Center of the Valencian Government has activated the hydrological alert in the municipalities of the Segura river basin due to the increase in its flow. A special warning has been issued urging municipalities to keep an eye on the river's evolution and to take preventive measures to prevent people from accessing the banks.

The Segura river basin is one of the most important hydrographic zones in the southeast of Spain, covering areas of the autonomous communities of Murcia, Andalusia, Castilla-La Mancha, and the Valencian Community. This river, which runs approximately 325 kilometers from its source in the Sierra de Segura to its mouth in the Mediterranean, in the province of Alicante, is crucial for both the agriculture of the region and the supply of drinking water.
