Evacuation in the Turia Gardens Due to Orange Alert

Local Police officers in València have started evacuating people from the Turia Gardens this morning, following the City Council's decision to suspend outdoor activities and close parks and gardens due to the orange alert for rain in the province of Valencia.

El Jardín del Turia, one of the most emblematic and extensive green spaces in València, has become over the years an essential meeting point for city residents and tourists. Originating in the riverbed of the Turia River after the great flood of 1957, this garden crosses the city offering recreational, cultural, and sports areas. Its importance lies not only in being a green lung for València but also in constituting a central axis of the city's social and cultural life. The decision to evacuate El Jardín del Turia and close other parks and gardens is taken as a preventive measure in response to an orange alert issued by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).
